InterSTORE at EUSEW Energy Fair 2025

From 10 to 12 June 2025, the InterSTORE project was featured at the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2025, held at the Charlemagne building of the European Commission and the Martin’s Hotel.
Day 1
The first day of EUSEW2025 marked a vibrant start to Europe’s foremost annual event dedicated to clean and sustainable energy. The gathering brought together a diverse range of stakeholders—including policymakers, researchers, innovators, and industry professionals—to exchange ideas and showcase forward-thinking solutions to accelerate Europe’s energy transition.
On Day 1, Daniele Carta (Forschungszentrum Jülich), a partner in the InterSTORE consortium, presented one of the project’s key technological innovations: the Legacy Protocol Converter (LPC). This tool enables the seamless integration of legacy energy systems into modern digital infrastructures—an essential step toward achieving interoperability across diverse energy environments.
Visitors to the InterSTORE stand were offered a practical overview of how the LPC can be configured to bridge communication between conventional and modern systems. This fosters enhanced flexibility, scalability, and resilience in distributed energy networks.
The InterSTORE booth welcomed a steady stream of attendees throughout the day, all keen to engage in discussions on the role of open-source digital tools in supporting Europe’s clean energy goals. The lively atmosphere encouraged meaningful dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas. Many participants expressed strong interest in how InterSTORE’s solutions could be deployed in real-world scenarios to support the hybridisation and monetisation of distributed storage flexibility.
Day 2 and 3
On the second and third days of the Energy Fair, Alexandre Lucas – InterSTORE Technical Coordinator – (INESC TEC) and Marco La Franca (Engineering Group) represented the project. Both experts actively engaged with stakeholders, responded to technical inquiries, and provided valuable insights into the project’s ongoing progress and long-term objectives.
In addition to live interactions and discussions, the InterSTORE booth featured several supporting materials and demonstrations:
CyberGrid Video Demonstration: A video produced by CyberGrid showcased their platform communicating with Distributed Energy Resources (DER) using the IEEE 2030.5 protocol within an energy community context.
LPC Configuration UI Tool: Developed by Sunesis, this tool allows users to configure the LPC via an intuitive interface. Live demonstrations were provided by Daniele Carta on 10 June, with follow-up support from other team members on 11 and 12 June.
DS Connector and Shared Services: Visitors could also explore the DS (Data Space) Connector and the suite of interoperable services being shared within InterSTORE—particularly those developed by INESC TEC. These demonstrations provided a tangible view of how data-driven tools are supporting energy flexibility and interoperability.
